I grew up in the Westfjords of Iceland, where the proximity to the powerful & untouched nature sparked my lifelong interest in wild Icelandic medicinal herbs and their healing properties. 

In 1990, I began to experience health challenges, so I started to take a closer look at what I was putting in and on my body. 

I began searching for certified organic and effective skincare free from harmful toxins, but found none. So I decided to make my own, using traditional Icelandic remedies passed down to me through generations by word of mouth; creating formulas with wild Icelandic herbs and certified organic ingredients.

At first, the balms were only for myself and my family, but their effectiveness quickly became clear and the demand grew rapidly. This marked the beginning of VILLIMEY.

In 2005, VILLIMEY launched its organic skincare range. This was followed by a two-year organic certification process, and in 2007, our products received organic certification. At the same time, we had the largest area of land in Iceland ever certified organic was approved for the harvesting of wild herbs. In 2015, the efficacy of our herbal formulations was confirmed through a bioactivity study conducted by Matís, an independent third party.

Today, our skincare is available in most pharmacies across Iceland, as well as select stores, and we ship worldwide. I'm so proud of what we've created, but proudest that Villimey has helped heal, soothe and nurture people and children in need, offering comfort and relief when they needed it; which has been the intention and guiding value since the very beginning in 1990.
