I grew up in the Westfjords of Iceland, where the proximity to powerful, untouched nature sparked my lifelong interest in wild Icelandic medicinal herbs and their healing properties. 

In 1990, I began to experience health challenges, so I started to take a closer look at what I was putting in and on my body. I began searching for certified organic & effective skincare free from harmful toxins, but found none. So I decided to make my own, using traditional Icelandic remedies passed down to me through generations by word of mouth; creating formulas with wild Icelandic herbs and certified organic ingredients.

At first, the balms were only for myself and my family, but their effectiveness quickly became clear and the demand grew rapidly. This marked the beginning of VILLIMEY.

In 2005, I launched a range of certified organic skincare that meet the strictest global standards of safety. This included the the largest area in Iceland ever certified organic for harvesting wild herbs. In 2015 the efficacy of Villimey's formulas was scientifically validated through an independent third-party bioactivity study. 

Today, our skincare is available in most pharmacies across Iceland, as well as select stores, and we ship worldwide.

I'm so proud of what we've created, but proudest that Villimey has helped heal, soothe and nurture people and children in need, offering comfort, care, and relief when they needed it; which has been the intention and guiding value since the very beginning in 1990.
